Copyright can derail a project before it has begun and all but the smallest projects need funding. Planning lets you focus on what needs to be done and it also helps you measure success. You'll need somewhere to store all of those digitised items and some way of finding them again. You might also want to control who accesses your items. Digital items are surprisingly easy to lose so you may have to do some work to preserve them for the longer term.

  Things to Consider
Am I legally allowed to do this?
What will it cost? Where can I find funding?
How do I plan a digital project?
Where will I put my collection?
How will I get my collection into the computer?
How will I find items in my collection?
How do I control who uses my collection?
Who will look after my collection when I'm gone?
Who can give me some advice?
