CALL FOR PRESENTATIONS

DSpace User Group Meeting: “Building Communities with DSpace

Submissions are invited from organizations and individuals using DSpace who wish to present at the upcoming DSpace User Group meeting.

The objective of the User Group meeting is to bring together the DSpace open source community and Federation of adopters to share experiences and discuss the future developments of the DSpace platform, its integration with other applications and institutional issues relating to establishing a DSpace repository.

The theme of this user group is "Building Communities with DSpace". Particular emphasis will be placed upon the integration of the DSpace digital repository software within the dynamics of particular institutions, disciplines and research communities . This general theme will be addressed at two broad levels:

Technical Developments, including:

  •          Integration of DSpace with institutional applications and processes
  •          Networking, federating, or running multiple instances of DSpace
  •          Cross-institutional integration or collaborations
  •          Software developments around DSpace and their functional impact on the user community
  •          Internationalisation and multi-lingual support
  •          Local customisations: rationale and impact
  •          Identity and authorisation management

End-user Service Issues, including:
  •          Working with communities
  •          DSpace implementation analyses
  •          End-user experience of DSpace< functionality
  •          Understanding and meeting user expectations of DSpace
  •          The meeting will also address architectural issues related to the future directions of the DSpace software.

Presentation proposals:

  •          ­should be sent via email to dspace2006@apsr.edu.au - the programme committee
  •          should take the form of a brief (1 page) description of the topic for presentation or poster;
  •          should include a short biographical sketch of the primary author; and
  •          should have included phone, fax, email for the primary author.

Second round submissions are requested by 2 December 2005 and will be reviewed by members of the Programme Committee for acceptance notification by 9 December 2005.If the presentation is accepted, final versions of the presentation must be submitted electronically by 2 January 2006. We will not be seeking text for publication, but will ask all authors to post their presentations on the DSpace Federation website after the meeting. 

The early bird registration rate will continue to apply for successful second round applicants until 15 December 2005.
